Mike Kayihura was born in Nairobi. He grew up in the Rwandan diaspora in Kenya before relocating to Rwanda in the late 1990s. Immersed in his cultural heritage, he developed a passion for music at a young age, joining a church choir in Kigali and teaching himself to play the piano. Following his graduation, he committed to a career in music, blending his East African and Rwandan roots with influences from Ethiopia and the UK. Mike is known for his versatility, fusing genres and styles in his solo projects and collaborations. Notable releases include his album « Barely Mixed » (2019), singles like « Sabrina » and « Trust Me, » and the EP « Zuba. » He also writes for other artists and collaborates with talents like Ric Hassani from Nigeria, Ruti Joel Kivumbi King to name a few. Currently, Mike is working on multiple upcoming projects slated for release by the end of 2024.
